Have you ever stopped to realize how everyday technologies make our lives a little bit easier for us? Well, one of the most convenient inventions that we use in today’s modern world is the elevator! There are so many interesting facts and myth about elevators you may have never heard of- and some you might have. The electric elevator’s that we know and use today date back to the 19th century.
How Safe are Elevators?
It is true that elevators are twenty times safer than taking an escalator and statistically speaking, elevators are the safest way to travel.. Elevators are supported by steel cables and each cable has the ability to hold a car by itself- so you are very safe. Have you ever been in a crowded elevator and worry that it might fall from too many people inside? Well, it sure wont. Elevators are designed to stay still with the doors open if there is too much weight in the cab- so not to worry. How about when you are in a rush and the elevator is on the top floor while you’re on a lower floor? Pushing the call button one time is the same as pushing it multiple. The myth of pushing the call button multiple times to speed it up, is truly a myth. Speaking of myth’s, did you know that pushing the door close button actually does not make the elevator doors close any faster? It’s true! Who would have thought something such as an elevator could be so interesting!
