Pincus Elevator would like to introduce you to our New Install & Modernization Operations Manager, Joe Paparo.
He is an important factor at Pincus Elevator and keeps the New Installation and Modernization jobs running smoothly and proficiently.
What is your role at Pincus Elevator?
New Install & Modernization Operations Manager
What are your main duties here at Pincus?
Manage all our Construction teams during New Installation or Modernization projects. Also oversee progress, quality control, scheduling and cost accumulation among other things.
How long have you been with the company?
5 ½ years
How did you get started in the industry?
My Stepfather has been in the elevator industry for 25+ years. He was in my current position when I decided to make a change in my career. I joined the Pincus team and started my career as a helper!
What is your favorite part of working at Pincus Elevator?
The teams we have built. Being a generational family company, we pride ourselves on making sure we are working together and solving problems.
What do you believe is the most beneficial elevator upgrade somebody can get?
Non-Proprietary Controller Mod. Unfortunately the days of the old clackers are over, and the availability of OEM parts can be EXPENSIVE and SCARCE.
What are you most proud of in your career so far?
The journey. From Helper—to Mechanic—and now Operations. I find it hard to pick one specific moment. I am just proud I can do what I ultimately found out I love.
What’s one thing people don’t know about you that they would be surprised to find out?
I have an unusual fascination with birds. Everywhere I go, my eyes are in the trees, bushes, skies—wondering what species of bird just played me a song.
What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?
HBO originals always. I’m currently rewatching Boardwalk Empire. Book-wise, I started re-reading, The Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. If you have a chance, just read the first chapter and I think you’ll be re-reading it for years to come as well.
What was the first job you ever had
I was a cashier at Highland Orchards!
What do your weekends generally look like?
Normally I would say, golfing, or something outdoors, hiking, floating the Brandywine River in the summer. But now, it’s the yard and housework. My wife and I are expecting our first child in August, and I have lots of projects to finish before she arrives!
Who has most inspired you throughout your life?
I don’t think I can say there is one specific person, but it would have to be a few. Throughout my life, my parents, siblings and close friends have all inspired me in one form or another. Whether it be through perseverance during tragedy or being humble through triumph. Each one during these times has helped shape or inspire me to be the best version of myself.
