At Pincus, we believe the key to our continued success is to establish meaningful relationships with our clients. To accomplish this, we like to spotlight our team members from time to time so our customers can learn more about our company and the fine individuals who help keep their elevators running. Today, we shine the spotlight on Tom Gibson!

What is your role at Pincus Elevator?

I focus on business development and account management.

What are your main duties here at Pincus?

It is my job to care for both prospective and existing customers. I survey properties so we can give customers pricing on maintenance contracts, repairs and modernizations of existing equipment. I take pride in listening to the concerns of customers and then explaining those concerns to my coworkers so we can try our best to provide the ultimate level of customer service.

How long have you been with the company?

Six years.

How did you get started in the industry?

I have been in construction my entire adult life. For the better part of the last 20 years, I have focused on multifamily housing and commercial projects. A little more than six years ago, Matt Pincus, the owner of Pincus Elevator, gave me an opportunity to specialize in elevators. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

What is your favorite part of working at Pincus Elevator?

Helping people every day.  Elevators are a crucial part of our customers’ operations. When elevators break, it can be the most stressful thing in a tenant or manager’s life. Creating a scope that corrects a problem and watching your team complete that scope is incredibly rewarding.

What do you believe is the most beneficial elevator upgrade somebody can get?

If I had to pick one, it would be to upgrade your door equipment. The door equipment, which runs the doors, never stops operating. The #1 reason by far we get service calls is because of door equipment. Door equipment only lasts about 15 years which is much shorter than the life of other components.

What are you most proud of in your career so far?

I believe in good old fashioned relationships with customers. I have been blessed to have known a lot of good people responsible for the development, construction and management of properties all over the region.

What’s one thing people don’t know about you that they would be surprised to find out?

I volunteer a lot of my time to coaching kids. I have coached basketball, baseball and a lot of softball.

What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?

I am usually a sports guy when it comes to watching TV.  Since it is in between the Eagles and Phillies seasons I am catching up on Maine Cabin Masters when alone. When my kids are around we are watching Outer Banks.

What was the first job you ever had?

I was raised by a builder. Some little kids went to camp while I learned how to foot ladders and fetch tools.

What do your weekends generally look like?

Lots of youth sports and, if I am lucky and have the time, I will be on Lake Nockamixon bass fishing.

Who has most inspired you throughout your life?

I sadly lost both my parents these past few years and not a day goes by without them guiding me through a tough moment.
