Summer is here and we are all excited about it, for sure. But did you know the temperature outside has a large effect on how your elevator works? It’s true, believe it or not. An elevator machine room that is too hot can cause hazards and require frequent repairs—the equipment can overheat and result in a loss of equipment reliability.

Elevator rooms tend to get warm when it is warmer outside. They operate best between the temperatures of 60 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Anything warmer or colder than that can cause an elevator to have some difficulty operating and possibly cause equipment failures. This can lead you to having to call the elevator repair service more times than you would like.

Your tenants or customers rely on the elevator to help make their lives easier. In order to prevent your elevator room from overheating or reaching temperatures that exceed 90 degrees, you should make sure you have a dedicated cooling system for the equipment. Make sure you are frequently monitoring your elevator’s temperature. A portable air conditioner can help keep things cool during the rising summer heat.
